A Day in the Catalan Countryside
Exploring villages, scenery, and daily life beyond Barcelona.
Leaving Barcelona behind, we spend the day traveling through the countryside of northern Catalonia.

As we move farther from the city, the road gradually takes us higher into the Pyrenees mountains, reaching elevations of around 800 meters above sea level near Rupit.

We drive along a calm and safe mountain road with gentle curves, enjoying the changing scenery and open views along the way.

Our route passes through very traditional villages, where no more than a few hundred residents live year-round and daily life follows a slower rhythm.

Along the way, we see open meadows, grazing cows and sheep, stone houses, and wide landscapes that feel largely untouched.

The day includes Besalú, Tavertet, and Rupit, with time for short walks, scenic pauses, and lunch, focusing less on distance and more on atmosphere and place.
